ELV
Airbag Deployment Equipment The
Airbag Deployment Equipment has been specifically designed not only
to deploy all of the vehicles SRS devices, but has been designed
exclusively for companies that dispose of End of Life Vehicles (ELV's).
It has been designed to deploy vehicle SRS systems from a single
central point, the SRS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) as well as
individual SRS devices if desired. It will deploy all SRS components
simultaneously. The airbag deployment equipment operates from an
internal rechargeable 12V battery and is short circuit protected.
Its operation has been designed to be as simple as possible and
yet incorporates many safety features such an arming key, warning
buzzers and indicators to alert local personnel.
The equipment is delivered in a rugged Aluminium flight case. The
Boxes are made of cast aluminium for durability. The equipment is
water resistant (Not Water Proof), this allows it to be used in
wet weather. The connecting cables are chosen for their resistance
to petrochemical attack and sharp object abrasion, but remain very
flexible.
The kit consists of:

The
Airbag Deployment Box (ADB)
is powered by a rechargeable 12V. The controls are very simple
to operate. A safety key ensures only the operator can operate
the tool. Turn the key and a state of the art LCD battery
indicator shows the battery condition. Releasing the key automatically
returns it to the off / safe position. A loud warning buzzer
and high intensity LED warn anyone in the vicinity of a potential
deployment. Count down and press the RED button. |
 |
The
AC Converter Box is
used on vehicles which have an AC SRS firing circuit. (Mainly
Ford and other PAG group vehicles such as Volvos etc). The
AC Converter is placed between the Airbag Deployment Box and
the ECU (or Breakout cable) to convert the DC output of the
Airbag Deployment Box to an AC output. If a vehicle's SRS
components do not deploy when using the Airbag Deployment
box alone, the vehicle may have an AC SRS system. Use the
AC Converter box in these cases. |
 |
The
Breakout Cable is
used to deploy individual Airbags and seatbelts. Remove an
airbag cable from an ELV, strip the wires and screw it into
the terminal block. This can now be used time and time again.
Come across a different type of connector (like under-seat
pretentoiner or side airbag type) just cut it out and add
it to the terminal strip. Soon you will have many different
types for all sorts of airbags. |
 |
The
Charger Unit supplied
can be continually plugged into the Airbag Deployment Box
to charge and condition the battery. It has reverse polarity
and short circuit protection. The Red LED gives the charging
status. |

Jumper
Cable:
This component may never be needed, as the battery can last
up to one year without a charge. However, should the internal
battery become depleted and vehicles still need to be deployed,
the jumper cable may be used with an external 12V vehicle
battery. Connect one end to the Airbag Deployment box and
the clips to a car battery. |
